Source power (W). Determines the thickness you can weld and how fast. But in this power range the limit is usually not the machine — it is the operator's technique and how well the joint fits.
Material and joint type. Stainless, carbon steel and aluminium behave differently. Butt, T-joint, lap and corner joints each need different settings.
Wire feed. Needed when the joint gap is wide or metal has to be added. Welding without wire demands considerably better cutting and fit-up accuracy — laser-cut parts fit far more closely than manually cut ones.
Number of integrated functions. A weld-only machine costs less than a combined weld, cut, clean and polish unit. Choose by what you actually do every day, not by the function count on the brochure.
Safety is not optional: eyewear matched to the wavelength for everyone in the area, screens or an enclosure, and local fume extraction — from the first day of operation.
Send us a sample part; we will weld it and send it back for you to judge the weld yourself.
